Questions we hear most

How do we try a class?

Pick a class from the schedule, book a visit on our registration page, wear clothes you can move in and arrive ten minutes early.

Which class is right for my dancer?

Ages 9 to 11 start in popping foundations or hip hop foundations. Ages 12 to 15 choose between popping and animation and the choreography lab. If you aren't sure, the teacher will tell you at the door.

What is popping, and how is it different from hip hop?

Popping is a funk-born street style built on sharp, timed hits to the beat, with waves, glides and isolations around them. Hip hop is a larger family of grooves and steps. We teach both, and dancers often take one of each.

What should they wear?

Clothes you can move in and clean flat-soled sneakers or socks. There is no uniform, and you can find more on each class page.

Do I need to stay?

No. Dancers 9 to 12 are signed out to a grown-up named on their form, and dancers 13 and older may leave on their own with a note from a parent. You are welcome to wait in the front room.

May I watch?

Yes. Parents may watch the last ten minutes of any class on the first Saturday of the month, and all of open practice.

What are the extras, like costumes and the showcase?

The showcase is in May. It uses a studio T-shirt as the costume, ordered in winter, plus a production charge for the room and sound. There are no entries or travel unless a crew chooses to go to an event.

How are photos handled?

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

What if we miss a class?

Tell the front desk before you come, and we will find a spot in the same level on another day of the session.

How does tuition work?

It depends on how many classes a dancer takes each week and how long they are. The session's figures are on the registration page.

Another question?

Write to the studio and we will reply within a day.
